Pallett Belben Identity

I have recently been working on various projects, one of them has been the identity for a new jewellery company based in London called Pallett Belben. The image above shows the logo used on their business card which I also designed. The front of the business card is printed on recycled matt paper and the back is a shiny black vinyl.

The jewellery Pallett Belben makes uses a mix of materials and weaves fine gold and silver chains and leather to create really interesting on off pieces of jewellery (their web site is here).

Hit Club

As I have previously mentioned I am currently setting up a record label. To showcase some of the bands we have on the label we recently put on a night at the industry music festival In The City in Manchester. It featured just a few of the bands we're currently working with. The image about is the poster that was designed to advertise the night. Printed on thin grey newspaper and stuck up around Manchester the day before the gig as we wanted it to be a bit of a surprise.

New Typefactory Poster

While reviewing my Uni work I found a few things I would like to change and improve. One of these things was the posters I had designed for the Typefactory project. Above are 2 of the new designs. The posters have the depth and experimental quality that the previous posters had however these posters have a much more complete feel in my mind, the strong use of colour is much more striking and the experimentation with the letters from the logo is much more defined. There are going to be more in the series, these will be posted on my web site soon.

Hit Club Poster Ideas

As I have previously mentioned the Hit Club visual identity was released last Thursday, to go with it I designed, and had printed, a limited run of posters to be given away free at the exhibition. Above are two ideas I designed that we considered for the poster however we decided not to go with.

Best Of Manchester Exhibition - Urbis

The Best of Manchester Awards were held last Thursday night at Urbis. Max Moran who I work with on the club nights, web site and now record label (along with Dan Market) won the music award which was great. The opening of the exhibition went well and is now open until the 20th September.

There are limited edition Hit Club posters free in our display on the plinth in front of the Hit Club logo, they hadn't been put there when this photo was taken.

The night also served as the launch for the Hit Club Records visual identity. The logo can be seen above. I also designed a set of 4 posters 1 advertising Hit Club and 3 advertising bands we are going to release soon. The Egyptian Hip Hop poster can be seen in a previous post.

The photo above was taken just before we cleared away the ladder, box and other posters on the floor.

5NYDAYS

I previously posted some development work from my 5NYDAYS project. Well now it's finished and above is the result. It documents 5 days I spent in New York and is designed to be a new take on a guide book that inspires and intrigues people instead of telling them directly where to go and what to do. It includes bits of conversations from when I was out there that tell people where curtain attractions are, ticket stubs, addresses and much more.

Joe Lean Poster

We (Hot Club) are putting on the comeback show for Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong at Deaf Institute in Manchester. We only confirmed the show the other day and it's in about 2 weeks so we had to get on the promotion quickly. I designed this poster which is a new style for Hot Club and a development from the DIP poster (previously posted).

DIP

I have just designed the poster for the photography fundraiser. The poster is influenced by the Swiss style and Niklaus Troxler, I wanted it to be bold and to the point which I hope it is.

AH UM Development

I'm currently working on the content for the AH UM look book. I have been experimenting with the typography in the studio. The image shows how I've been laying out the type by hand to try and give it a more natural and energetic composition. More work will follow soon.

Intersections Hanbook

I got a copy of the handbook I designed for the Association of Art Historians conference called Intersections a couple of days ago.  Above are 2 images from the 112 page handbook. It was a good job to work on as I got to work on it from start to finish, had regular meetings with the client and sorted out printers. I also designed an identity and had to apply it to lots of materials for the conference. Images of these will follow soon.
